We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to contribute to the development, maintenance, and optimisation of Wren's data platform. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business needs.
This role offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data technologies, gain experience in data lake management, and grow within a fast-paced environment.
This role is hybrid and based in the office at Barton-Upon-Humber 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain efficient data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and processing.
* Monitor data performance, security, and availability using tools like Datadog and CloudWatch.
* Implement automated testing for ETL workflows to ensure data quality.
* Support optimization of data models and transformations for analytics.
* Follow data governance best practices for security, access, and documentation.
* Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to meet data needs.
* Design and optimize pipelines to support LLM training; work with data scientists and ML engineers to manage datasets and integrate AI models into production.
* Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving.
* Maintain technical documentation and stay updated on data engineering trends.
About You
Required Skills:
* 2+ years in data engineering with ETL/ELT pipeline development
* Proficient in Python for data wrangling and automation
* Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
* Knowledge of data lake architectures and ETL tools (Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Glue)
* Strong problem-solving and attention to data quality
* Skilled in SQL for data querying and transformation
* Effective collaboration with technical and non-technical teams
* Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch)
* Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Desired Skills:
* Agile development experience (e.g., Jira)
* Understanding of data governance, security, and access control
* Exposure to LLMs for business insights
* Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for data engineering
