Overview
Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – full time, permanent, Band 6, based at St Georges Park Hospital in Morpeth, Northumberland, within the Community Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS). Travel to other sites across the Trust may be required.
The CYPS provide care, treatment and assessment for young people with complex, moderate to severe needs across Northumberland. The multi-disciplinary team includes consultant psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychotherapists, social workers, art therapists and support workers, all focused on the needs of young people and their families.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist SALT assessment, intervention and recommendations for children and young people accessing CYPS.
* Work as an integral member of the CYPS multidisciplinary team and support the development of the SALT provision within the service.
* Engage with fellow professionals to address communication difficulties as part of a holistic, service-user-centred approach; conduct high-quality, evidence-based assessments and interventions.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, maintain clear documentation, and work both as part of a close team and independently as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Current registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Experience in mental health, learning disability or neurodevelopmental settings and/or teams is desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies and navigate complex systems to support effective pathways.
