Responsibilities
 * Conduct forensic examinations and obtain forensic exhibits.
 * Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
 * Actively collaborate with external MDTs and Police.
 * Serve as the point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
 * Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
 * Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
 * Work under Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
 * Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures.
 * Provide travel for training days; hotel and subsistence reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy.
Qualifications
 * GMC‑registered Doctor.
 * A minimum of 3 years of post‑foundation relevant experience.
 * Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
 * Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
 * Experience working in sexual health, paediatrics, GP, or obstetrics/gynecology.
 * Female applicants only (genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act).
 * UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
 * Advanced DBS and level 2 police vetting, with 3 years residency in the UK.
 * Medical indemnity by start date.
Desired Qualifications
 * Diploma in Legal Medicine.
 * Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine.
 * Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments.

 * Salary: £79,497 – £82,638 (pro rata).
 * Part time and full time considered.
 * Flexible rota prioritising educational and developmental activities.
 * 1:1 monthly supervision with allocated mentor, safeguarding supervisor or line manager.
 * Opportunity to take part in research, audit, teaching and sit FFLM exams.
 * Weekend working and evenings are main requirements; occasional in‑hours shifts for resilience and training purposes.
 * Rota: 9pm‑9am Mon‑Sun mainly on‑call; may include 9am‑5pm weekday shifts and half‑day weekend shifts.

The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.
