Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial & Corporate
A leading global organisation within the insurance sector is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its well‑established in‑house legal team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters while supporting strategic initiatives within a trusted and forward‑thinking business.
The Role
You will provide high‑quality, business‑focused legal advice across a wide range of commercial, corporate and regulatory issues, partnering with senior stakeholders and contributing to the organisation’s strategic and operational goals. The role offers substantial breadth, visibility, and the opportunity to influence major programmes and initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise on commercial contracts, corporate matters and regulatory requirements within the UK and internationally
* Work closely with senior stakeholders across multiple business areas to support strategic projects
* Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks and contribute to robust governance
* Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non‑legal audiences
* Develop and improve legal resources, templates and guidance materials to drive efficiency
* Manage multiple workstreams, balancing competing priorities in a dynamic environment
* Instruct and collaborate with external counsel when specialist expertise is required
* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, challenging processes and streamlining ways of working
* Support an inclusive, transparent and collaborative team environment
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years’ PQE, with strong commercial and corporate experience from private practice or in-house
* Confident, commercially minded lawyer with strong judgment and problem‑solving skills
* Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across a variety of agreements
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders
* Highly organised, able to manage competing demands and work autonomously
* Curious, proactive and capable of anticipating legal and regulatory challenges
* A collaborative team player able to build strong cross‑functional relationships
