We invite NHS Borders staff to join our Acute Mental Health Service, specifically the Borders Specialist Dementia Unit, a newly established 12‑bed unit supporting people living with dementia who require specialist hospital care and treatment.
Role Overview
Position: Health Care Support Worker
Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week
Work hours: Shift work including night shift; flexibility possible.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high quality care and support to patients on the ward, contributing to their treatment and wellbeing. Work within a supportive team, taking part in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience working with older adults and in mental health settings. Motivated, innovative and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Benefits and Working Conditions
Good opportunities for career development and growth. As of 1 April 2026, the full‑time working week will be reduced to 36 hours, with a proportional increase in hourly rate to maintain pay.
