The ‘One Children’s Service Transformation Programme’ aims to deliver stability, improvement, and confidence in transforming our Children’s Services Directorate. This high-priority programme, mandated by the Corporate Management Team, aligns with the ‘A Bright Future Strategy’ to ensure children and young people in Plymouth grow up healthy, safe, and able to achieve their aspirations, living in resilient families and communities, and taking advantage of opportunities.
The programme encompasses 8 large-scale projects focused on:
* Service improvements in Children’s Social Care, SEND, and Vulnerable Learners services
* Service assurance to reduce demand and manage costs
* Service modernisation through new organisational structures, processes, and digital practices
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join as a Project and Programme Support Officer. This role offers a valuable opportunity to learn about Children’s Services, support project delivery, and contribute to improving key services for children and young people.
The successful candidate will support programme administration, including managing meetings, tracking project actions, developing documentation, supporting finance tasks such as invoicing, and managing logs for risks, issues, and dependencies.
This is a 37-hour per week role, five days a week, with a hybrid working arrangement (50% home, 50% office). Ideally, candidates should be local. Parking is not provided at the office, but a nearby car park is available.
Essential experience:
* Providing project and programme or Business Support
* Planning and organising meetings, preparing agendas, report packs, minutes, and follow-up actions
* Using Microsoft Office, including MS Project and Excel
* Utilising standard systems, tools, and process frameworks
* Applying initiative to solve problems with senior officers
Essential skills:
* Excellent and adaptable IT skills
* Compliance with corporate standards, policies, and legislation regarding data protection, confidentiality, and governance
* Adherence to health and safety policies and equalities legislation
