Town Planner

We’re working with a well-regarded regional housebuilder to recruit a Town Planner to join their expanding Cornwall-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning professional looking to work on a variety of residential schemes, from design through to delivery.
You’ll be joining a long-standing, award-winning team and play a key role in managing the planning process, supporting land acquisition, and promoting sites through the planning system to help deliver sustainable, high-quality developments across Devon and Cornwall.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and promote forward land interests to secure planning consents.
2. Oversee the preparation of planning applications, layouts, and related documents.
3. Ensure submission deadlines and planning milestones are met.
4. Liaise with local authorities, planning consultants, agents, and stakeholders.
5. Maintain accurate planning records and databases.
6. Support land appraisals and provide planning input into new site opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
7. Degree-qualified and MRTPI or working towards chartered status.
8. 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience in town planning.
9. Background in a local authority, consultancy, or residential developer.
10. Solid understanding of planning policy and residential development.
11. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
12. Familiarity with planning software is advantageous.
13. Full UK driving licence (essential for site visits across Devon & Cornwall).
