Purpose of the role
We seek a customer-focused, enthusiastic Technical Field Engineer interested in resolving IT issues. The ideal candidate will be technically competent, possess strong communication skills, and collaborate effectively with IT support teams.
This is a field-based role supporting Post Office Branch hardware break-fix/swap activities within a designated geographical area.
Work will be scheduled daily by a Central Dispatch Team based on criticality, service levels, and location. Engineers are responsible for punctual attendance at assigned branches to resolve incidents within agreed service levels.
The role covers a specific area near Cambridgeshire within a 2-hour drive. Support hours are Monday to Saturday, 08:00 – 18:00, with Saturday work on a rota basis. Weekend work may be required on a rota basis.
The successful candidate must undergo BPSS clearance and possess a valid UK Driver’s License.
Role Responsibilities
* Device and connectivity troubleshooting
* Device imaging and configuration
* Device swap-outs and connectivity cabling, Wi-Fi setup
* Device installs, moves, decommissions
* Device stock control and asset management
* Proactive maintenance, user guidance
* Cable management
* Smart hands and eyes support
* Liaison with support teams
Essential Skills/Experience
* Experience in a similar role
* Familiarity with Point of Sale devices
* Experience with Cielo, Microsoft tablets, Lenovo/Dell desktops and laptops, KVM switches, routers
* Knowledge of Windows OS and peripherals (printers, scanners)
* SLA focus and familiarity with call management tools
* Proven troubleshooting skills
* Knowledge of PCI compliance (desirable)
* Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance
* Valid UK Driver’s License (vehicle provided)
