A bit about us
Are you passionate about making a lasting difference for children and young people in care? Gwynedd RAP provides a trauma-informed, child-centred therapeutic service for children and young people, including those returning to the county or at risk of placement breakdown.
We work closely with the local authority, schools, and partner agencies to promote stability, emotional resilience, and the best possible outcomes.
Our team offers a wide range of interventions, including counselling, psychotherapy, therapeutic parenting guidance, attachment-focused parenting groups, and identity support around culture, ethnicity, gender, and disability.
Every intervention is tailored to the unique needs of each child or young person and those who care for them, strengthening relationships and helping them thrive within their community.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
This is a dynamic and varied role where you will combine therapeutic practice with practical support to make a real difference. You will:
* Maintain the highest safeguarding and ethical standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and families.
* Deliver direct therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and families across schools, homes, and community settings.
* Complete assessments and develop tailored clinical plans to meet individual needs.
* Provide practical support to help families access resources, navigate systems, and promote placement stability.
* Produce high‑quality reports, case studies, and accurate records within required deadlines.
* Work collaboratively with professionals to share information and coordinate support around each child.
* Manage your own caseload and schedule, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
Let's talk about you
We're looking for someone who is compassionate, organised, and self-motivated, with the ability to balance therapeutic work and practical support. You will have:
* Ability to communicate in Welsh (desirable).
* A recognised therapeutic qualification (e.g., Counselling, CBT, Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, DDP) and professional accreditation or membership with a relevant body (BACP, UKCP, NCS, HCPC, BPS).
* Experience working within social care settings, with a strong understanding of issues affecting children in care, including attachment, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences.
* Commitment to anti‑racist and inclusive practice, with experience promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion across areas such as race, disability, gender, and sexuality.
* Strong recording and report‑writing skills, including producing case studies and meeting deadlines, alongside competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Confidence working directly with parents and carers, offering guidance to strengthen relationships and support children's emotional needs.
* Emotional resilience and reflective practice skills to manage the challenges of trauma‑related work.
* Full driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel across Gwynedd and Anglesey.
What we offer
* Regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
* Opportunities for ongoing professional development and training.
* A small supportive team environment committed to innovation and inclusion.
