RRE CRAFT INTERNS STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

1. Receive pay to learn power generation from

2. Obtain hands on experience in the daily operations and maintenance of coal/gas/hydro/solar generating facilities in Duke Energy’s North Carolina and South Carolina territory

3. Choose your own work schedules to accommodate school curriculums

4. Participate with one-on-one mentorship and hands on learning opportunities

The physical work location for this role will be at our coal, gas, hydro, solar or bulk energy storage generation facilities in North and South Carolina to include: Belews Creek, Roxboro, Semora, Hamlet, Goldsboro, Eden, Bad Creek Stanley or Conover, NC. The student selected for this role must live within a reasonable (50 miles or less) commute of the work and school location.

CRAFT INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

5. Complete a work study program for a minimum of 2 to 3 semesters

6. Rotations through operations, maintenance and instrumentation and controls

7. Attend various training classes to learn systems within a generation facility

8. Adhere to safety, environmental, and Code of Business Ethics policies as directed by Duke Energy

9. Complete specific deliverables for personal and professional development

10. Work within your discipline and learn multi-craft trades

11. Learn and apply basic mechanical skills to improve power generation performance

12. Learn energy generation maintenance and processes

13. Contribute to energy generation projects

14. Productively collaborate with teams to achieve goals

15. Work independently to complete individual assignments

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR RRE CRAFT INTERNSHIP:

16. Students must be considered full-time under community college requirements

17. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

18. Must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours

19. Ability to work a minimum of 3 semesters while still participating with school curriculum

20. Currently enrolled in a two-year AAS Degree Program in one of the following or related disciplines:

21. Electric Power Production Technology

22. Electronics Engineering Technology

23. Electrical or Electronic Technology (Electrical Systems Technology)

24. Industrial Systems Technology

25. Mechatronics

26. Engineering Associates

27. Solar Technology

28. Welding Technology

29. Must be enrolled in a community college with one of the above curriculums

30. A current college unofficial transcript is required and must be uploaded as an attachment when applying to this position

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

31. Previous internship or work experience

32. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

33. Demonstrated ability to work independently

34. Demonstrated ability where you had to develop and maintain positive working relationships and work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds to solve problems and implement solutions

35. Demonstrated technical proficiency utilizing the computer (basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, etc.)

36. Experience in positions where you had to follow safety processes and procedures

37. Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical aptitude, analytical, technical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills

38. Self-motivated, acts with a sense of urgency, perseveres, and follows through on commitments

39. Capable and willing to learn and apply basic mechanical skills

40. Learns from experience, seeks, and uses performance improvement feedback

41. Demonstrated leadership ability (holds self-accountable, maintains composure under stress, able to multi-task, etc.)

42. Demonstrated diagnostic and analytical skills

43. Experience using industrial tools, hand tools, and equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

44. You select your work schedule to accommodate your school schedule

45. Students are required to complete 20-40 hours of work per week

46. Valid Driver’s License required

47. Students selected for this role must live within a reasonable commute of work and school location

48. Onsite Mobility Classification – work will be performed at a company facility

49. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and pass a pre-employment drug test

50. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, noisy and/or other hazards

51. Depending on work location, may be required to meet requirements for unescorted access/security clearance

52. Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.), as needed

53. Ability to lift 50 pounds

54. Ability to work at heights and from suspended work platforms

55. Required to work in all areas of the power plant
