An established, rapidly growing £1bn contracted services business operating across Great Britain and Ireland is recruiting a Managing Director to lead its London region of £200m. The company is backed by a major international corporate group and has expanded quickly through organic growth and acquisition, the business has doubled in the last 5 years and is set to double again in the next 3 years. It employs 20k+ people and operates a broad FM soft‑services portfolio across public and private sector clients. The role carries responsibility for a large multi‑site operation with significant revenue and people leadership accountability; it offers an exciting high‑visibility opportunity to shape a major regional transformation.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious commercial operator with proven P&L experience in multi‑site, frontline service businesses like contract catering, foodservice distribution, contract logistics, B2B retail, hospitality hotels on corporate contract, or facilities management integrated soft services like security and cleaning. They will have a track record of delivering growth and margin improvement, converting single‑service contracts into bundled multi‑service solutions, and overseeing complex mobilisations. This person will combine strategic clarity with hands‑on visible leadership at the frontline, able to design and deliver a three‑to‑five‑year plan into practical, measurable outcomes by setting a vision that teams engage with and get behind.
Strong senior client relationship skills are essential: this role requires someone who can engage and influence at board and C‑suite levels especially during bids to drive contract retention and expansion. The ideal candidate will be data and technology fluent, using KPIs and systems to improve productivity, visibility and decision‑making, and will be experienced in embedding continuous improvement across operations. They should be a skilled change leader, capable of shifting team mindsets, developing high‑performing leadership teams and introducing new ways of working with credibility and empathy.
