You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work Main responsibilities: Meet targets related to your Apprenticeship and role performance agreed by your company appointed Mentor and attend all college, training, assessments, and progress reviews Demonstrate active involvement in the finance functions to develop a full understanding of company operations, systems, products, and equipment Exhibit progress in learning from the finance teams and complete all assigned duties to an agreed expectation Effectively undertake assigned tasks to an agreed standard as directed by an experienced mentor Show continued progress in the development of your knowledge on financial aspects of processing and reporting with the support of a dedicated mentor Assisting with development of reporting and striving for continuous improvement through input into ideas and development Accurately inputting data and highlighting and challenging when things don’t look right Always demonstrate the Selwood values when representing Selwood Ltd, whether at work or whilst attending college Interact and work collaboratively with all levels of Selwood staff to achieve all agreed outcomes Demonstrate initiative and not wait for instruction when seeing something needs to be done whilst maintaining a methodical, attention to detail Demonstrate a flexibility in understanding the requirements of all stakeholders to support the business whilst maintaining a safe environment for all Comply with Company policies, rules, and procedures at all times Comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including, but not limited to health, safety, environment, quality, and data protection, in respect of your role and employment with the Company Where you'll work Bournemouth Road, Chandlers Ford Eastleigh Southampton, Hampshire SO53 3ZL Training Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes. Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts. Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts. Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations. Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand. Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications. Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Training schedule Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2- AAT This apprenticeship is a perfect match for someone without any accountancy or bookkeeping knowledge. On this programme they will learn the building blocks of the modern accountant. Not only will they grasp the fundamentals of bookkeeping but we will help them develop those vital skills and behaviours to enable them to put their knowledge into action. If you’re new to accountancy and finance, looking to change your career into accountancy or have previously worked in an accounts department this level is ideal for you. You don’t need any prior experience working in accounts to study AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. There are no entry requirements, but you do need good maths, IT and English skills, and a willingness to learn. You’ll learn a broad range of core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing as well as accountancy related business skills and personal skills. You must successfully complete the following: Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK) Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC) Principles of Costing (PCTN) Business Environment (BESY) You will also be required to complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which will include a synoptic assessment and interview with supporting portfolio. Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship.
