CLEANING
1. Undertake general cleaning duties within the Hospice building as directed by the Operations Supervisor to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
2. Perform cleaning tasks including washing, sweeping, polishing, and dusting of designated areas such as bathrooms and fixtures.
3. Use powered equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and carpet cleaning machines, with training provided as needed.
4. Always use warning signs during floor cleaning tasks.
5. Empty litter bins and remove refuse to designated bins.
6. Use chemical cleaning materials and polishers following published procedures and training.
7. Participate in deep cleaning programmes as directed.
8. Follow specialised cleaning protocols to ensure sterilisation and prevent cross-infection.
9. Adhere to the colour-coded waste disposal system and ensure waste is transferred to appropriate bins.
10. Replenish disposable items and report stock levels to the Operations Supervisor.
11. Work collaboratively with the team to complete the cleaning schedule.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
1. Perform duties safely according to statutory regulations and guidelines.
2. Report unsafe environments or practices to the Operations Supervisor or Manager.
3. Store hazardous substances in compliance with COSHH regulations.
4. Wear protective clothing as required.
5. Report faults immediately.
6. Attend mandatory health and safety training such as manual handling, infection control, COSHH, fire safety, and lone worker protocols.
LAUNDRY
1. Provide laundry services to ensure availability of clean linen and uniforms.
2. Operate laundry equipment safely to prevent cross-infection.
3. Keep linen cupboards stocked appropriately.
4. Participate in stock takes and audits as directed.
5. Ensure personal laundry is completed and returned promptly to patients or their carers.
