The role
– Sprinkler Design Engineer
My client are the UK’s class-leading supplier of fire detection and fire protection systems.
They design, install, and maintain all types of automatically operating fire extinguishing systems and electronically activated fire detection and alarm systems for large projects through to servicing small standalone products. They currently have over 200 employees and have offices throughout the UK.
Duties will include:
1. Ensure designs are produced to a high quality, are compliant with the relevant standards and meet necessary time-scales, while maintaining a professional relationship with clients, team members and sub-contractors.
2. Production and design responsibility of fire protection sprinkler system installation drawings and coordination models.
3. Production of hydraulic calculations.
4. On-site surveying, where necessary.
5. Attend coordination meetings within the task team.
6. Carry out checks to ensure designs are complaint to the relevant standards and project specifications.
7. Mentor junior members of the design department.
Experience, competencies and knowledge required:
8. Strong experience in the design of fire protection sprinkler systems.
9. Experienced in producing technical drawings in AutoCAD and Revit sheets.
10. Experience in the production of the hydraulic calculations using the CanuteFHC design software.
Qualifications required:
11. Knowledge of LPC Sprinkler rules
12. Minimum of LCPB Basic Design Qualification. (not essential, training can be provided)
13. LPCB Intermediate and FHC Design Qualifications would be advantageous.
14. Knowledge of FM and NFPA standards would be advantageous.
