Overview
Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist - Surgical
Successful candidate will be required to work Wednesdays.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist and safe Occupational Therapy care for acute surgical patients, aligned with national guidelines and standards.
* Manage an acute caseload on established surgical wards, with some coverage required for outliers.
* Support a weekly amputee clinic on Wednesdays, in collaboration with physiotherapy and therapy assistant colleagues.
* Lead and contribute to a culture that places patients’ therapy needs at the forefront of all decisions.
* Steer the team to source fast and appropriate onward rehabilitation options or discharge support based on highly skilled clinical reasoning.
* Collaborate within an existing therapy team covering an acute bed base of around 44 beds, with additional support from OT colleagues across the site and across three geographical locations for learning and development.
Leadership, Development and Transformation
* Join a department undergoing large-scale restructuring at therapy senior leadership level, including a new surgical team therapy lead, with a focus on modernising and transforming therapies within the group.
* Support staff development, lead team members to learn and grow in this specialist area, and engage with further educational opportunities based on personal development plans.
* Contribute to growth and reform efforts with a motivated team aiming to deliver excellent local and specialist services.
