Duration: 12 weeks (possibility of the role going perm)
Location: 100% campus based - Uxbridge
Pay: 18.57
To provide a proactive, efficient, and effective customer-focused service to Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Language Centre applicants to the University, from application through to registration. The role involves high-level administrative and analytical activities, including assessing academic and English Language requirements, visa eligibility, fee status, and maintaining data integrity. Responsibilities also include liaising with academic staff on borderline applications and managing the Selection Day processes.
Accountabilities and responsibilities
The Admissions Office is organized into Undergraduate, Postgraduate, DBS & Scholarships, and Systems teams. The Admissions Officer role is within the Undergraduate and Postgraduate teams, allocated to College teams. The role includes monitoring applications, ensuring records are up to date, handling email responses professionally, and supporting annual Confirmation, Clearing, and Registration activities. The role requires managing high volumes of queries via phone, email, and Live Chat, supporting student registration during Welcome Week, and ensuring compliance with UCAS embargoes. The role demands initiative, independence, and strategic input to improve admissions processes.
Decision Making
The Admissions Officer processes student applications, providing professional, responsive service to students, agents, and advisors. The role involves responding to enquiries face-to-face, by phone, email, and Live Chat, advising on programs, entry requirements, and policies. The officer liaises with other departments such as Student Finance, Accommodation, and the Student Centre, and advises international students on visa requirements, including issuing CAS numbers in compliance with UKVI regulations. Administrative support for registration activities is also part of the role.
Skills and Qualifications
* Degree or substantial relevant administrative experience
* Educated to at least A level or equivalent
* Previous Admissions Officer experience
* Substantial administrative experience in a customer-focused role
* Experience working in higher education and busy office environments
* Proficiency with computerised record-keeping systems, preferably SITS
Additional Skills
Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines; excellent attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and remain calm during busy periods.
