Autism Key Worker
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: January 2026
Salary: £23140 – £28600 per annum
GSL Education is seeking a full-time Autism Teaching Assistant / Key Worker to join a specialist ASC provision in York from January 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support autistic young people who benefit from structure, consistency, and personalised support.
The Role
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with Autism
* Assist with communication, emotional regulation, routines, and sensory needs
* Help deliver personalised learning plans and specialist strategies
* Use visual supports and structured approaches to reduce anxiety
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students
* Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external specialists
As the Ideal Autism Key Worker, you should have:
* Experience with Autism, ASC, SEN, SEMH or youth support (desirable, not essential)
* Calm, patient and nurturing approach
* Strong communication and adaptability
* Graduates in Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care, Counselling, Youth Work or similar are encouraged to apply
* Must be able to commit to a full-time role
