We are seeking a Piano Teacher to teach on Mondays from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Exact hours are to be confirmed. The minimum will be 3 hours and the maximum 4.5 hours.
Highams Park Music Academy is actively looking to hire a talented and reliable Piano Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will assess students' needs and design lessons that support them in achieving their goals. This includes preparing students for recitals, ABRSM and Trinity exams, and teaching fundamental music theory.
To excel in this role, you must demonstrate strong instructional skills and considerable patience, particularly when teaching young children from 4.5 years old as well as adults. Exceptional candidates are lifelong learners who continually refine their skills. We are looking for a piano teacher who can make learning enjoyable while ensuring measurable progress and who has the ability to inspire students.
Responsibilities:
* Assess students' goals and objectives and discuss lesson plans before committing to a programme.
* Structure individual lessons based on each student's preferences and goals.
* Provide appropriate materials and resources.
* Attend scheduled lessons, recitals, competitions, and events punctually.
* Teach music theory and support students in developing sight-reading, memorisation, and improvisation skills.
* Record lessons to help students identify mistakes and track their progress.
* Prepare students for exams, recitals, concerts, and other performances.
* Motivate and inspire students, especially during challenging periods when progress may be slow.
* Provide constructive feedback and adapt lessons as needed.
* Confidently engage and inspire both young children and adult learners.
Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS Certificate (mandatory).
* Bachelor's degree in Music/Piano (teaching qualification preferred).
* Strong musical background with proven piano skills and extensive knowledge.
* Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience.
* Strong sight-reading ability.
* Patience, excellent communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
* Strong motivational skills.
* Ability to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
* Ability to travel to Highams Park (E4), where lessons will take place.
