Job Purpose
Our successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance and development of the planned and proactive alert management system (Dynamic Network Management) to significantly reduce the volume of reactive work currently undertaken across the Wastewater Network.
The Performance Engineer will also carry out an array of analysis to identify systemic, local, technical or setpoint changes required to allow Operations to manage the Wastewater Network in a Proactive or Predictive manner.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with all Operational Intelligence and Wastewater Network policies, procedures, Environment Agency protocol and regulatory requirements on a daily basis, ensure data recorded and updated in the DNM platform Reliable, Accurate and Complete, particularly around Flooding, Pollution, Collapses and Feedback from investigations
* Improve drainage and alert performance by providing technical input into alert logic, setpoints, management, attendance and investigations to reduce the number of reactive flooding and pollution incidents amongst others, and improve customer satisfaction and CMEX performance. Including Powered and Non- Powered asset performance improvement
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as required, including but not limited to; Drainage Performance Teams, Drainage Delivery Teams (Inf & Non Inf), County System Performance teams, Monitoring and Control Teams, External contractors such as Jacobs, Royal Haskoning & Sensor suppliers, to act as an SME for all remote monitoring related matters associated with activities undertaken on the wastewater network sensor performance and improvement plan
* Support with Incident management for high profile adverse weather incidents to be able to report on or identify and prioritise alert response and assets at risk and act as a Remote Incident Controller during large scale flooding and pollution incidents
* To coordinate and develop alerts and capabilities within the DNM platform for Wastewater Process, Third Parties and eventually Waste systems in line with all the previously identified role requirement
* To participate in the development of other features or systems that could be used to enhance the DNM service and to test and trial its operation as part of a continuous improvement process.
* Provide day-to-day technical support and advice to field team, as required
Technical Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of wastewater services as well as network policies and procedures would be an advantage
* Knowledge of regulatory obligations in relation to wastewater services would be an advantage
* Excellent analytical skills
* Effective time management and ability to plan and implement work to meet deadlines and quality requirement
* Good IT skills and understanding of IT systems and their capabilities
* Reporting and presentation skills (both oral and written)
* Excellent customer service skills - both internal and external customers
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
* HNC or degree in a technical discipline or substantial relevant industry experience
* Full UK driving licence
* Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Qualifications
* HNC in civil engineering
* Extensive knowledge and experience of day-to-day sewer operation and maintenance techniques
* Knowledge and experience of the principles of pumping station operation
