You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that every child receives the learning and emotional support they need to feel happy and ready to engage in their education.

This role will involve working across a number of year groups, and will also include some 1:1 work. We are looking for someone flexible and it would be advantageous feeling confident working across the full primary age range.

Part of the role will include a 30-minute lunchtime cover each day.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience of being a teaching assistant within a primary setting – experience of 1:1 work would also be beneficial

• A warm, friendly, hard-working practitioner who relates well to children and adults

• Someone who is proactive and will support the school in securing the best outcomes for all pupils

• Be a positive team player with strong interpersonal skills

• Have knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales

• Understand how Additional Learning Needs works in Wales – knowledge of Trauma Informed Practices and Emotion Coaching strategies would be beneficial

• Contribute to the ethos of our friendly, happy, nurturing school

The successful applicant will join a strong, caring and well-established team. Wood Memorial is a forward thinking, exciting, vibrant and rewarding place to work. We are committed to high standards and have a strong sense of community.

Shortlisting will take place on Monday 2nd February. Successful applicants will be informed directly and invited to interview on Thursday 5th or Friday 6th February. Due to the potential volume of applications we receive we are not always able to contact each applicant individually, therefore if you have not heard from us within one week of the closing date you should assume that your application has not been successful.

Visits to school are encouraged and can be made by appointment through the school office.

For more specific details, please see the person specification and job description, however it is encouraged to outline in your application any areas of specialism, or skills you can bring to the role.

As this post will result in you having substantial contact with children, and/or vulnerable adults the successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services check.
