Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to work on Ward 15, which is a 28 bedded ward.
We are looking to appoint a flexible person with general clerical skills, who can cope well under pressure. Someone who enjoys working with members of the public and being a vital member of our friendly, hardworking team. The successful candidate will need to be forward thinking and be able to provide a full range of clerical duties to support the smooth running of the ward. The role is varied and includes assisting with general ward tidiness, filling, scanning, photocopying, medical data inputting, booking out patient appointments and a pleasant telephone manner. Good communication and organisational skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. Knowledge of health IT systems is desirable though full training will be given.
Responsibilities
* You will be responsible for the maintenance of patient notes, computer systems, answering phone calls, scanning documents.
* You will be expected to communicate with a wide range of professionals, Consultants, doctors, nursing staff, patients and relatives.
* You will be expected to organise your own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service.
* Photocopying documents/notes as required. Locate, collate, file and store patients notes as appropriate.
* Contribute to a welcoming atmosphere within the ward making users feel comfortable and at ease.
* Report any problems relevant to the ward to the senior nurse in charge.
* Normal routine clerical duties, e.g. filling, cleaning, booking ambulances, making out patient appointments, reporting jobs to maintenance, good communication with staff, patients and relatives.
* Operate patient administration computer system and ensure computer system is up to date at all times with details of all patients currently on ward.
* To ensure that all patient admission, discharge and transfer details are recorded on the computer system in a timely manner.
* Maintain an adequate level of stock to maintain the smooth running of the ward.
* Be responsible for ensuring that patients notes are available, maintain them in an orderly manner and return them appropriately after discharge.
* Make arrangements for X-ray, ECG and other relevant procedures, when requested.
* Collect and deal with post appropriately.
* Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the ward manager.
Welsh Language
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
