Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Manager to ensure that Amicus Trust is operating safely and legally and within Health and Safety regulations. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe work environment, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of occupational health standards, training development, and effective communication skills to engage employees and residents at all levels. You will, at times, be expected to travel to all of our residencies and engage with the residents and the staff to ensure compliance and training across all of Amicus Trust.
Duties:
1. To ensure that Amicus Trust's policies and procedures are legally compliant and are implemented in line with Health and Safety legislation
2. To ensure that the organisation follows best practice
3. To oversee the organisation's lone working arrangements
4. To ensure that COSHH is being followed correctly within all accommodations and head office
5. To prepare RIDDOR reports.
6. To submit application for CHAS registration
7. To apply for HMO Licences
Checks and Tests:
1. To ensure that all PAT Testing is carried out regularly.
2. To ensure that all Health and Safety Checks are being carried out by staff
3. To request and check contractors' qualifications and maintain records
4. To ensure that fire extinguishers are serviced on an annual basis
5. To ensure that Display Screen Equipment assessments are carried out and any adjustments made
6. To ensure that fire detection systems are maintained and serviced and to report any issues to the landlord
7. Ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.
8. To ensure that thermometers are available in all fridges.
9. To ensure that water temperatures are recorded weekly
10. To ensure taps and shower heads are descaled quarterly
Internal procedures
1. To ensure that Risk Assessments are carried out, as required by legislation, are fit-for-purpose and are reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same
2. To oversee and monitor regular room checks
3. To carry out spot checks of projects and offices
4. To ensure that lone working practices are monitored and recorded
5. To ensure that incidents and accident reports are being carried out
6. To carry out health and safety investigations
7. To ensure that staff receive the proper level of training.
8. Coordinate and manage first aid and PPE arrangements
Equipment and Resources
1. To oversee the issuing and maintenance of Personal Protection Equipment
2. To ensure that any machinery that is used is safe and fit-for-purpose
3. To ensure that all projects are using only approved cleaning materials
4. To ensure that all First Aid boxes are up-to-date and legally compliant.
General:
1. Provide operational reporting as required
2. Uphold and demonstrate Amicus values and behaviours
3. Operate within Amicus Trust's Policies and Procedures
4. Be available to travel to Amicus properties and offices as required
5. Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post.
Person Specification:
1. Education
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent - Essential
NEBOSH Diploma or working towards - Desirable
2. Work Experience
Experience of working within a similar role held for a minimum of 24 months - Essential
Experience of working with vulnerable people - Desirable
Experience of staff management - Essential
