Job Summary
To work as an autonomous practitioner as part of the Emergency Department, providing holistic care of the highest standard for emergency patients based on current best practice and guidelines.
Working with local and nationally agreed frameworks the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will exercise independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of patients admitted under the care of Emergency Medicine, historically associated with the role of the senior house officer.
Main duties of the job
The role involves effective history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis and the implementation of a range of care interventions for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
To demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, to identify gaps within the service and assist with improvement and development in line with national and local strategies.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities
Makes a clinical decision on the appropriate use of diagnostics and therapeutic interventions to determine the differential diagnosis, interpreting the difference between normal and abnormal findings and acting on the results by either further testing or referral as appropriate.
As a licensed autonomous non-medical prescriber makes clinical decisions on appropriate medication required for individual patients, including the restriction of medications that may have contributed to the patients current condition as well as initiating treatments such as analgesics, antibiotics in line with guidelines and pre-operative medications, also the prescribing of complex drug regimes.
