House & Gardens Manager (London & South East)You’ll be based across two of London’s most fascinating National Trust properties: 2 Willow Road, a striking 1930s Modernist home designed and lived in by the visionary architect Ernö Goldfinger, and Fenton House, a charming 17th-century townhouse nestled in Hampstead, known for its exquisite collection of fine and decorative arts and its beautifully maintained walled garden. Reporting to the General Manager, these properties form part of the Ham House portfolio. You’ll collaborate closely with the wider portfolio leadership team, including your counterpart at Red House and Carlyle’s House, and the department heads at Ham House. You’ll join a knowledgeable network of colleagues, committed to addressing unequal access to nature, beauty and history in urban areas. Accommodation is available at 2 Willow Road. If you choose to live off-site, an Inner London weighting of £4,465 will be added to your salary. As part of the team, you’ll also join a shared duty management rota, including weekends and bank holidays. Accommodation is provided to the postholder for the proper or better performance of their duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules. This is a practical, people focused role where you’ll be at the heart of daily operations, ensuring the smooth running of the sites and high standards of presentation, engagement and care. You’ll lead a small, dedicated team on-site, including a Collections & House Officer, Visitor Experience Officer, and Senior Gardener, supported by a passionate group of volunteers. Fenton and Willow are open 4 days a week between them. During the open season, you’ll focus on: Leading your team and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor experiences Delivering key events for local urban audiences. Managing daily operations and relationships with stakeholders and volunteers When the properties close for the winter (from November), your focus will shift to: Overseeing conservation and maintenance projects. Ensuring compliance and security across both sites.
