The East Midlands is recruiting two 2‑session APD posts for its senior educator team. The posts are fixed‑term until the end of the financial year (31/03/26), with the possibility of extension. Successful applicants will need to travel across the East Midlands and attend monthly APD meetings held on Wednesdays.
Post 1 – APD for Faculty Development
The role involves overseeing the CPD of the existing faculty, which includes approximately 100 TPDs, 16 APDs, 2 Heads of Service and around 1,000 ESs/Cs. Responsibilities include:
* Managing biannual Trainer Updates and APD/TPD development days.
* Running monthly APD meetings.
* Conducting a training‑needs analysis for Educational and Clinical Supervisors.
* Developing strategic plans and horizon scanning to streamline educational opportunities.
Post 2 – APD for Trainee Support
Senior educator role focused on supporting doctors in difficulty and enhancing the trainee experience. Responsibilities include:
* Attending monthly update meetings with the Lead Employer.
* Providing regular updates to the Responsible Officer Advisory Group (ROAG).
* Mobilising support for 5‑10 doctors who require senior educators.
* Liaising with trainees, training programmes and educators to optimise outcomes.
* Representing the GP School at LTFT and Resident Doctor Forum meetings when required.
