Job Summary:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of the companys work. This role ensures that projects are delivered within budget, and in compliance with the companys contractual obligations. The Commercial Manager will work closely with contract managers, project managers and the finance team to ensure accurate reporting of costs, optimum recovery of variations, mitigation of risk to optimise profitability, and ensure commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Financial Oversight: Develop, manage and report on project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures. Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Risk Management: Identify commercial risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure insurance, indemnities, and liabilities are appropriately managed.
* Bid and Tender Support: Provide commercial input for tenders and proposals, including pricing strategies, commercial terms, and risk assessments.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, regulators, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
* Project Support: Support project delivery teams with commercial guidance throughout the project lifecyclefrom pre-construction to closeout.
* Reporting: Prepare regular commercial reports for senior management, highlighting key financial metrics, risks, and opportunities. Including leading to monthly CVR reporting meeting.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Construction Manager, Quantity Surveying, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
* Minimum 57 years of experience in a commercial or project management role within the environmental, construction, or civil engineering sectors.
* Proven experience in contract negotiation, financial management, and risk analysis.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficiency in project management and financial software tools.
Preferred Attributes:
* Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PMP, or equivalent).
* Experience with public sector or government-funded remediation projects.
* Familiarity with contracts such as NEC, FIDIC, or JCT contracts.
