The council is seeking an experienced Interim Senior Fire Risk Assessor to provide high-level, specialist fire safety expertise. The post holder will lead onplex fire risk assessments across a diverse property portfolio, ensuring fullpliance with statutory fire safety duties and delivering immediate, high-quality outputs.
This role requires a seasoned fire safety professional who can quickly integrate into the organisation, work autonomously, and deliver expert assessments that support the council’s legal obligations and resident safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesFire Risk Assessment Delivery
1. Lead on thepletion ofplex and high‑priority Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across housing, corporate buildings,munity assets, and high-risk premises.
2. Undertake detailed site inspections, evaluate fire safety measures, and identify deficiencies requiring remedial action.
3. Produce clear,pliant FRA reports aligned with PAS 79 methodology and local authority standards.
4. Prioritise risks and provide practical, proportionate rmendations to ensure life safety and regulatorypliance.
Technical Fire Safety Expertise
5. Provide authoritative advice on fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
6. Support the council in developing fire safety strategies, action plans, andpliance frameworks.
7. Advise onpartmentation, evacuation strategies, fire doors, detection systems, and building fire safety features.
8. Review contractor reports, fire safety documentation, and technical drawings where required.
9. Ensure all FRA outputs meet statutory requirements and withstand regulatory scrutiny.
10. Produce concise, high-quality reports for senior managers, housing teams, andpliance boards.
11. Track and monitor fire safety actions, escalating high-risk issues promptly.
12. Support the council’s audit, assurance, and regulatory engagement processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
13. Work collaboratively with Housing, Property, Building Safety, Health & Safety, and external fire authorities.
14. Provide briefings, technical explanations, and professional guidance to managers and operational teams.
Person Specification Essential
15. Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualification (, IFSM, FireQual, or equivalent recognised accreditation).
16. Extensive experience conductingplex FRAs across residential and/or public sector buildings.
17. Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, building safety regulations, and local authoritypliance duties.
18. Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality assessments at pace.
19. Excellent writtenmunication skills, with the ability to produce clear, defensible FRA reports.
20. Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify and articulate fire safety risks.
Desirable
21. Experience working within a local authority, housing provider, or regulated public sector environment.
22. Membership of a relevant professional body (, IFSM, IFE, IOSH).
23. Experience supporting building safety case development or fire safety management systems.
