Training Manager (Transport & Logistics) With over 55 years experience in the logistics industry McCulla Ireland are one of the countrys leading providers of ambient, chilled and frozen logistics solutions throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe. We currently have Operating Centres across Northern Ireland and Ireland, with further plans for expansion. McCulla has over 300 employees working across our Transport, Warehousing, Customs and Green Bioenergy Operations. There is an ever-growing modern fleet consisting of over 120 vehicles and 200 trailers operating our just in time service with environmental sustainability at the forefront of everything we do and making us unique in the market for our customers. The Role: As our Training Manager, you will be responsible for the full onboarding experience and beyond for our Transport Planning teams across Northern Ireland & Ireland. Reporting directly to the HR Function, you will initially focus on coaching & mentoring on the intricacies of our transport planning network before expanding your influence to support the wider business. About The Role Duties will include: Onboarding & Systems Design and deliver a structured onboarding program specifically for Transport Planners, Transport Coordinators and support staff. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal Transport Management Systems (TMS) and planning software, ensuring all new hires reach technical proficiency quickly. Create "Standard Operating Procedures" (SOPs) that translate complex GB/NI/IE cross-border logistics into training modules. Process Streamlining & Efficiency Strongly support and help steer the business on its Transport IT pathway, as a SME for TMS and associated systems for the wider integration of the logistics function as a whole. Audit existing planning processes to identify bottlenecks. Work alongside the Transport Department to streamline workflows to improve planning speed and accuracy. Work in partnership with the compliance team to ensure all staff are trained on legislative requirements for the various jurisdictions (customs awareness, driver hours, etc) People Development & Retention Cross-Training: Develop a matrix to ensure the department is never reliant on a single individual. Build "bench strength" across all regions, and desk functions. Accountability: Implement post-training assessments to ensure knowledge retention and high performance. Retention: Use training as a tool for engagement. Clear career pathways and skill development are your primary levers for reducing staff turnover. Expansion & Scalability While the initial focus is Transport Planning, you will collaborate with HR to identify training gaps in Warehouse Operations, Commercial, Customer Service, Customs and AD Plant Operations functions as the role evolves. There will be the expectation that you will be required to learn the other functions within the business and have set objectives around these. Criteria: Proven track record in training or operational management within Logistics & Transport. Geographic Knowledge Understanding of the logistical nuances between Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain. Shift Flexibility Our operations run 24/7; you must be willing to work flexible hours to support night and weekend teams when required. Open to travel to various site locations as required. Have the ability to master new software quickly and teach it to others with varying levels of IT literacy. People-First High emotional intelligence with a focus on coaching rather than just "lecturing." Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Terms: Competitive salary package depending on experience.
