CAMHS Participation Facilitator

We are looking for a passionate and motivated CAMHS Participation Facilitator to join our Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs).
This role is focused on ensuring that children, young people, and families are at the heart of service design and delivery. Responsibilities include planning and delivering meaningful participation activities such as running groups, collecting feedback, coordinating young people’s involvement in recruitment, and reviewing patient information and resources. The Facilitator works closely with clinicians and managers to turn ideas about participation into tangible action, ensuring services reflect diverse voices.
This is a full‑time weekday role (Monday to Friday) requiring travel across East and West Dorset. A valid UK driving licence and use of a vehicle are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Work directly with children, young people, and families to co‑produce improvements in mental health services
* Facilitate participation groups, workshops, and engagement activities
* Support young people to influence service design, recruitment, and evaluation
* Develop innovative and inclusive ways to gather feedback, such as surveys, digital tools, and creative sessions
* Help ensure services reflect diverse voices, including those underrepresented
* Collaborate with clinicians, managers, and partner organisations across Dorset
Person Specification
Additional requirements
* Qualification at Level 3 or 4 (e.g., youth work, childcare, health or social care) or equivalent experience
* Understanding of participation and co‑production principles
* Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and equality standards
* Understanding of children’s mental health and wellbeing
* Experience working directly with children and young people in group or project settings
* Experience supporting young people to contribute to decisions, feedback or service improvement
* Competent use of IT systems for communication, data and presentations
* Ability to create accessible materials and summarise feedback clearly
* Evidence of demonstrating the trust values and behaviours
* Strong facilitation and communication skills with young people and professionals
* Organised and able to manage multiple projects
* Flexible approach and willingness to travel across Dorset
* Respects and values the experiences of young people and families
* Promotes inclusion, equality and kindness in all work
* Works collaboratively and reliably as part of a team
* UK Driving Licence and use of a car
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively
* Training in participation, facilitation or peer support
* Lived experience of Mental Health
* Partnership working with schools, local authorities or voluntary organisations
* Experience within mental health, education or NHS environments
* Experience coordinating events or volunteers
