Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of automated manual handling and conveyor equipment in a busy fulfilment-centre warehouse.


As a junior Maintenance Engineer, you’ll ensure that operational and conveyor equipment is kept running safely and is well maintained. As well as a focus on planned preventative maintenance, you will also carry out reactive maintenance to deal with any breakdowns or emergencies.


Other responsibilities will include:


• Supporting the Facilities Manager with basic tasks including minor repairs, and upkeep of the building and fixtures, painting, asset monitoring.

• Leading by example to establish and ensure a positive health & safety culture.

• Agreeing maintenance priorities and schedules with internal customers.

• Ensuring completeness and accuracy of maintenance records.

• Communicating with external support providers to resolve complex issues.

• Providing reports on the performance of the machinery and conveyors.

• Proactively identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to maximise the efficiency of automation and operations.

• Managing spare parts inventory, including ordering, organising and tracking usage to ensure availability of critical components and reduce downtime.


Experience of providing engineering support in a warehouse or production environment is essential, and to succeed you will also need:


• An understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines gained in a production or warehouse environment, including maintaining conveyors and manual handling equipment (MHE).

• A qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline at national Level 3 or above.

• Experience of managing and fault finding on automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems – desirable.

• Good written and spoken communication skills.

• Good computer skills such as MS Office and automation monitoring tools – desirable.


Normal hours of work will be 12-hour shifts, from 8.00am – 8.00pm, on a rota of 4 days on and 4 days off. However, you will sometimes need to be flexible in terms of hours worked, especially in peak trading periods.


Occasional travel maybe required to other sites in the UK.
