Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Sight and Sound Technician to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities

The Sight and Sound Technician is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of sound and lighting equipment for live performances in clubs and other designated locations. This role combines technical expertise with creative flair to provide high-quality stage lighting, sound effects, and audiovisual support for events. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Audio-Visual Equipment Operation:

1. Operating sound equipment for live performances and ensuring high-quality sound production that meets client and event needs.
2. Setting up and operating lighting systems to enhance both indoor and outdoor performances, events, and stages.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

3. Performing routine maintenance and repairs on sound and lighting equipment to ensure operational readiness.
4. Assembling, troubleshooting, and calibrating sound systems, lighting rigs, electrical components, and wiring as required.

Creative Lighting and Effects:

5. Utilizing creative vision to design and arrange stage lighting for performances and events.
6. Installing, arranging, and operating lighting and wiring equipment to create unique visual effects for indoor and outdoor scenes or performances.
7. Configuring and aligning lighting systems to match event themes, production requirements, or special effects needs.

Event Support and Setup:

8. Setting up and arranging electrical equipment and lighting to meet performance or event specifications.
9. Collaborating with event coordinators to successfully execute performances by aligning sound and lighting effects to enhance the overall experience.

Technical Expertise:

10. Providing expertise in stage lighting, sight effects, and sound balancing to ensure an immersive and professional presentation.
11. Ensuring compliance with safety guidelines while handling, installing, and maintaining electrical equipment and lighting systems.

Minimum Requirements

12. High school diploma or equivalent.
13. At least 2 years of experience in operating, repairing, maintaining, and assembling sound and lighting equipment for live performances.
14. Demonstrated creativity in lighting design and the ability to create visually dynamic effects for indoor and outdoor scenes.
15. Knowledge of proper techniques for installing, arranging, and operating stage lighting, sound equipment, and electrical wiring.
16. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve issues with lighting and sound systems.
17. Familiarity with live performance environments and the technical requirements for stage management.
18. Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

19. Experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
20. Formal training or certification in audio engineering, stage lighting design, or sound system operation.
21. Familiarity with Navy or Department of Defense audiovisual and event management standards.
22. Advanced knowledge of digital soundboards, lighting consoles, and audiovisual software.
23. Valid country driver’s license.
