Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at our flagship pub, The Antelope in Surbiton. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pub or restaurant kitchens and a proven track record of managing kitchen operations. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation, and fostering a positive work environment within the kitchen. Your leadership skills will be essential in guiding your team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities, ensuring efficient food production and service.
* Plan and create innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to guest preferences.
* Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
* Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
* Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and high performance.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with hygiene standards.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards.
Skills
* Proven experience as a chef in a similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
* Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and hospitality standards.
* Excellent leadership abilities with experience in supervising and managing a team.
* Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with both kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.
* A passion for food production and creativity in menu design.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
