As a Shunter Driver your primary objective is to facilitate the movement of trailers and containers within logistics yards of facilities. Your role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain by efficiently positioning trailers for loading and unloading, as well as organising them for onward transportation. Your role is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of logistics processes and supporting the timely delivery of goods to customers. The work pattern is 4 days on 4 days off- 12 hour shifts. How you create impact Have a strong knowledge of Health & Safety at work Good communication skills High attention to detail and ownership regarding vehicle checks Proficient driving skills, especially in manoeuvring large vehicles in tight spaces Strong awareness of safety protocols and regulations Commitment to complying with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to shunting operations, vehicle maintenance and documentation. LGV licence Must have the ability to accurately position trailers and navigate in tight spaces, requiring keen attention to detail. Ensure vehicles, prior to departure, are correctly loaded and that the load is secured. Periodic checks are to be made during the journey. Oversee the safe movement of large vehicles and trailers around a construction site Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines, procedures and regulations. Completing safety assessments Ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles between parking bays and loading bays. Report any vehicle accidents and mechanical defects in addition to completing minor maintenance tasks. Escorting drivers to and from the waiting area.
