This exciting 8-week paid placement offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of BBC Radio 1Xtra. You’ll gain hands-on skills and experience working across our shows and departments, all at the heart of the action in our HQ in Central London.
Role Responsibility
You’ll collaborate with multiple teams and spend time across different departments. You’ll take part in creative meetings and support production teams before and during live shows. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a 360-degree view of what it’s like to work at an award-winning national broadcaster.
You’ll be assigned a mentor who will meet with you weekly to support your development and future plans. As we’re a 24/7 station, working hours will vary and may include evenings or weekends. We’ll do our best to accommodate personal circumstances when planning your schedule.

What You Don’t Need
You don’t need formal qualifications or previous experience in radio. We’re looking for creativity, imagination, and a genuine passion for media and production.
• You must be at the beginning of your career journey (this placement is not for those with previous paid BBC experience).
• You must have the legal right to work full-time in the UK.
• You must be 18 or older by the start date.
• You must be available to work in London for the full 8-week placement.
