About the role:
The Packaging Sustainability Data & Compliance Intern will contribute to Convatec’s packaging sustainability ambitions by supporting critical activities that strengthen data integrity, enhance supplier information, enable regulatory readiness, and build repeatable environmental reporting frameworks. This role provides hands‑on experience in sustainability, packaging, data analysis, and regulatory compliance within a global healthcare organisation.
Success in this internship requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, curiosity, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions. You will work closely with the Packaging Sustainability Engineer and the Packaging Manager to support structured processes that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your main tasks:
1. Packaging Data Validation
1. Review and validate packaging materials, weights, and classifications
2. Identify inconsistencies, gaps, and duplicate entries
3. Standardise naming conventions and units of measure
4. Distinguish between estimated and verified inputs
5. Summarise findings and support documentation updates
2. Scope 3 Packaging Emissions Support
6. Organise and maintain packaging material weight datasets
7. Apply established emission factors and document assumptions
8. Support updates to carbon calculation tools
9. Prepare comparison summaries for year‑on‑year reporting
3. Supplier Data Collection & Enhancement
10. Develop structured supplier information request templates
11. Collect packaging‑related environmental data (, recycled content, manufacturing location, product footprint info where available)
12. Track response rates and evaluate data completeness
13. Consolidate and organise supporting documents
4. Regulatory Readiness Support
14. Map existing packaging data against upcoming regulatory expectations
15. Identify missing data attributes and documentation needs
16. Build structured trackers to monitor regulatory preparation
17. Support organisation of recyclability and compliance evidence
About you:
18. Strong analytical and organisational skills
19. High attention to detail and data accuracy
20. Proficiency in Excel and data handling
21. Clear written and communication skills
22. Ability to manage tasks independently and collaboratively
Qualifications / Education
23. Currently pursuing a degree in a STEM subject
