Fire Engineering Lead
My client seeks an experienced Fire Engineering Lead to own fire engineering across the business and shape the direction of the growing team. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical capability with natural leadership, excellent people skills, and a proactive approach to project delivery. It is a mostly remote role with an option to work from an office.
About The Role
The Fire Engineering Lead will oversee all fire‑related deliverables across a diverse portfolio of projects, including large‑scale residential developments, hotels, and data centres. Responsibilities include managing team workloads, providing technical guidance, ensuring high‑quality outputs, supporting bids and tenders, and nurturing client relationships. Business development support is a valuable bonus.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the fire engineering team, including workload planning, mentoring, and performance oversight.
* Take ownership of fire engineering outputs across the business, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with relevant standards.
* Develop fire strategies and produce high‑quality fire engineering reports for complex projects.
* Provide technical input during design stages and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Engage directly with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders to provide clear, confident advice.
* Support the preparation of bids, tenders, and fee proposals.
* Represent the fire engineering discipline in internal and external meetings.
* Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice within the team.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a senior fire engineering role, ideally with large‑scale residential, hotel, or data‑centre projects.
* Strong understanding of fire safety design principles and relevant codes/standards.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and deliver projects on time.
* Excellent communication and people skills; able to build trust with clients and colleagues.Strong report‑writing skills, particularly in fire strategy development.
* Experience supporting tenders or business development activities is advantageous.
* Chartered or working toward chartership (IFE or equivalent) preferred.
