Role Building Services Engineer - Mechanical Contract/Staff Contract - 12 Months Location Remote with occasional travel to Glasgow IR35: Inside/Outside Inside IR35 Our Client has a requirement for a Building Services Engineer - Mechanical, who will be required to work on a contract basis mainly remote with occasional travel to Glasgow. Role Purpose: The role sits within the Approving Authority (Design) and supports the design integrity and safety justification of key defence infrastructure systems, structures, and components interfacing with nuclear propulsion and weapon systems. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, the successful candidate will support both current operations and future programmes by developing and maintaining engineering design substantiation for nuclear facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and supporting the through-life safety and reliability of assets. Job Role Responsibilities: Author, develop, assess, maintain and manage Clyde Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documentation Manage and assess design changes and concessions Present design substantiations to nuclear safety committees through formal due process Produce and develop Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules, operating procedures and results Produce Periodic Review of Safety (PRS) reports Provide technical advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders Undertake Independent Technical Reviews (ITR) / Independent Peer Reviews (IPR) Apply general and specialist engineering knowledge to support design and operational challenges Apply theoretical and practical engineering methods across full asset lifecycle (design through to decommissioning) Produce robust technical justifications to support design modifications within a high hazard/nuclear environment Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Mechanical or Building Services design Experience producing technical justifications for design modifications Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards for the built environment and building services Familiarity with industry guidance (e.g. CIBSE, ASHRAE) Experience working on multi-disciplinary engineering projects Desirable: Commissioning management experience with knowledge of CIBSE/BSRIA commissioning codes Experience within nuclear or high hazard environments Familiarity with safety case development techniques (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP) Previous experience at Clyde or similar facilities Qualifications: HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or related discipline (essential) BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (desirable) Membership of IMechE or CIBSE (desirable) Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (desirable) Safety case training or experience (desirable) Company information At First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
