Tasca Frango is a warm, lively Portuguese-inspired restaurant in the heart of York. We specialise in sharing plates, freshly grilled piri-piri chicken, Portuguese wines, and cocktails that bring people together.
Our name "Tasca" comes from the traditional neighbourhood taverns of Portugal — casual, welcoming spots where great food, good drinks, and conversation flow in equal measure. That's the atmosphere we recreate here: relaxed but vibrant, with a focus on genuine hospitality and bold flavours.
Since opening, we've built a reputation for high-quality food, friendly service, and creating an experience that makes guests feel like they've stepped into a Portuguese evening out. We're a growing independent business and proud to be part of York's buzzing hospitality scene.
We're now looking for a hands-on Supervisor / Assistant Manager who can help us deliver that experience every day.
Responsibilities
As Supervisor / Assistant Manager, you'll be a key part of the leadership team, supporting the General Manager and making sure everything runs smoothly on shift. Your role will involve:
* Overseeing daily front-of-house operations
* Leading, motivating, and developing the team
* Ensuring every guest leaves happy, resolving issues with confidence
* Supporting with recruitment, training, and onboarding new staff
* Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and liaising with suppliers
* Taking charge of shift setup, cashing up, and closing duties
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, health & safety, and compliance
* Contributing ideas to improve service, team culture, and customer experience
Requirements
We'd love to hear from you if you:
* Have experience as a Supervisor, Duty Manager, or Assistant Manager in hospitality
* Are a natural leader who can motivate a team under pressure
* Can confidently handle a busy service while staying approachable and positive
* Are organised, reliable, and proactive in solving problems
* Can work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
* Value great food, drink, and genuine customer service
Bonus points if you:
* Have worked in casual dining, tapas, or small plates restaurants
* Know a thing or two about Portuguese or Mediterranean food & wine
Remuneration
* £12.50 per hour
* Tips/TRONC - averages at £4 extra per hour
* 50% on shift discount
