We're working on behalf of a leading further education college in Romford, East London, to recruit a passionate and experienced GCSE English Lecturer for a temporary, full-time role starting September 2025.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled English educator to make a lasting impact on students working towards their GCSE qualifications.
About the role
You'll deliver engaging and effective English lessons to a diverse group of learners, helping them build key literacy skills and prepare for exam success. You'll also contribute to curriculum planning and support learners' progress throughout the academic term.
Key responsibilities:
* Teach GCSE English to 16-19-year-old and/or adult learners
* Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons
* Assess learner progress and provide feedback to support improvement
* Help learners gain confidence in reading, writing, and communication
* Contribute to departmental planning and learner success strategies
What we're looking for:
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
* A degree in English or a closely related field
* Proven experience teaching GCSE English, ideally in FE or secondary education
* Strong classroom management and communication skills
* A passion for supporting learner achievement and progress
Please note: An Enhanced DBS check is essential for this position
