About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading drilling equipment manufacturer within the Oil and Gas industry as an Apprentice Mechanical Technician at NOV. Based at our Montrose Repair facility, you will use your existing mathematical and technical knowledge as a strong foundation to build and develop the practical skills required to become a well-trained, experienced, and valued member of our Repair team.
Your structured four-year Apprenticeship Development Plan will begin at an offsite training facility, where you will gain the fundamental engineering knowledge required for your chosen discipline. During Year One, you will work towards achieving your SVQ Level 2 qualification, building essential skills in general engineering processes and requirements.
In Years Two through Four, you will be based onsite at our Montrose facility, rotating through various departments and gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of the repair process. Starting in the repair workshop, you will follow the full lifecycle of our products—from initial disassembly and inspection through to final assembly, testing, refurbishment, and shipping of drilling equipment designed for extreme offshore conditions.
Throughout the programme, both the training provider and NOV will closely monitor your progress, providing structured guidance and mentorship. By Year Four, you will work with limited supervision and take a lead role in selected projects. Upon successful completion of the programme (achieving a minimum of NC level), you will graduate as a fully trained and skilled NOV Mechanical Technician.
