The Environment Agency’s Graduate Training Scheme is a structured, hands‑on programme spanning 4–5 years, giving you the skills, experience, and opportunities to become a future leader within the Agency.
What You’ll Do
* Diverse Placements – 6‑12 month rotations across a wide range of teams, working on everything from asset management to strategic planning and site supervision, giving a holistic understanding of flood defence engineering projects.
* Flexible Pathways – Your journey is tailored to your interests and development needs, whether you’re drawn to geotechnics, hydraulics, or project logistics.
* Learning & Development – Accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the programme guides you toward Incorporated (IEng) and Chartered (CEng) status.
Requirements
* Graduation with an accredited BEng or, ideally, an MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
* Both degree and Masters accredited by the ICE to satisfy the academic requirements for IEng or CEng.
* Proactive, adaptable, inquisitive, self‑motivated, and comfortable working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
* Full UK driving licence or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Application Details
Shortlisting will take place in January 2026, with interviews in February/ March 2026. Successful candidates start in September 2026.
