West of Scotland (Greenock / Clyde Area) 3–4 Month Contract | Monday–Friday McNeill Marine is supporting a West of Scotland vessel operator with the recommissioning of a vessel returning from lay-up. This is a hands-on, yard-based role focused on bringing the vessel back into full operational condition ahead of sea trials and shipyard works. Scope of Work Includes: -Fuel system inspection & potential tank cleaning -Generator recommissioning -Battery testing / replacement -Engine checks & mechanical diagnostics -Pumps, water systems & heating systems -Hydraulic systems (windlass, thrusters) -Basic fault-finding on bridge equipment / autopilot -This will largely be a sole engineer role, with additional support available when required. Requirements Ideal Background: -Chief Engineer or Sole Engineer experience -Small vessel / workboat / tug / coastal background -Strong mechanical bias -Comfortable working independently -Experience with vessels returning from lay-up advantageous -Local to West Scotland preferred (Greenock / Glasgow area) Benefits Contract Details: -Approx. 3–4 months -Monday–Friday -Weekend work only if required for trials/movements -Start within the next 4–6 weeks.
