Job Description The postholder’s duties will primarily be the administration of Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates accounts. The specific duties include the creation and amendment of data held on these databases and the issue of responses to written and verbal enquiries from taxpayers and ratepayers. The postholder will mainly specialize in either Council Tax or Non-Domestic Rates but may periodically be deployed to the other in times of high work volumes. Requirements To input information to the Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates databases To respond to enquiries from taxpayers and ratepayers, both verbally and in writing To perform general clerical duties The Individual Experience of working in an office environment Experience of data input Experience of dealing with the public 4 SQA Standard grade or equivalent at level 3 or above including Maths and English High level of accuracy in work Effective communication skills; oral and written Ability to deliver a high level of customer care Appreciation, acceptance of and commitment to the importance of confidentiality Ability to work to deadlines Knowledge of software packages e.g. Word, Excel Willingness to accept direction/delegation Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team Ability to deal with people in an understanding and professional manner Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service Ability to work in an open plan/shared office Closing Date: Friday 27 February 2026 Starting Salary: £25,994.15 Hours per week: 36.25 £13.79 per hour Proposed Interview Date: w/c 9 March 2026 For further information, contact James Taylor 01343 563160
