The role of this Team Leader is to provide front line management and accountability to members of the depot team whilst overseeing a small number of posting & cleaning staff remotely. You will be responsible for the supervision of all operatives and their functions on a day-to-day basis, auditing their work to ensure that the company’s strict standards and deadlines are met at all times whilst encouraging a positive Health and Safety culture. Key responsibilities include: Work Management and Planning Ensure that all allocated work is issued and completed on time and to the strict service level agreements as outlined in our contractual obligation. Carrying out monitoring of all tasks that enable a proactive approach to efficient work allocation. Conduct regular audit inspections of work completed. Support all operatives in planning allocated work efficiently. Accurate stock control – manage stock in conjunction with the depot team. Support branch project initiatives as lead by the Operations Manager Lead a culture of safety across the team ensuring that steps are proactively taken to ensure compliance with the company’s Health and Safety policies. Accident reporting and investigation Lead by example to create a professional working environment and promote the company image. Team Management Managing recruitment, induction and training of new team members. Target setting, regular 1 to 1 reviews and general management of individual team members. To include performance feedback and structured performance reviews. Conduct regular team meetings and toolbox talks. To conduct timely and effective investigations in line with the company’s performance management procedures and escalate to Manager as required. Coach, support and mentor team members to create a great place to work. To ensure that the team are working in line with all company policies and procedures. Provide training and monitor progress, making sure that the training provided is put into use. Desired Skills and Experience: Front line management experience, in a previous warehouse or stock control position is essential. Excellent knowledge and use of IT systems within a goods in and despatch environment Strong experience and knowledge of health & Safety operations within a logistics department Ability to build and maintain both internal and external relationships. Excellent communication skills Proven ability to work productively, effectively and efficiently. Experience of taking own initiative and be able to deliver under tight timescales, whilst maintaining attention to detail.
