40 Hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Brantwood Specialist School is an exciting and innovative provision which offers full time education to children who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties. At Brantwood Specialist School students will learn through a dynamic outdoor land and craft-based curriculum, which includes practical skills; textiles, green woodwork, pottery, cooking and blacksmithing with a significant period of time involved in growing biodynamic produce in the school gardens and looking after the farm animals.

In this role you will be a Cover Teacher ensuring the pupils of Brantwood Specialist School engage in learning and achieve by providing practical, experiential and therapeutic education through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.

You will apply your knowledge about learning and the modes of learning to plan and deliver aspects of the Steiner Waldorf Curriculum within the assessment framework of the National Curriculum in addition to their subject area.

You will ensure that students develop basic skills in numeracy, literacy, ICT and core learning skills, together with social skills and will provide opportunities for students to practice and develop these skills, assessing their progress in accordance with the school's assessment schedule and curriculum policy

To be considered, you will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status,
* Experience of the National Curriculum framework of assessment,
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* A practical approach to engaging pupils.
* Experience of working with children with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities.
* Experience within specialist education and the Steiner Waldorf Curriculum are also desirable.

Brantwood Specialist School is located on the outskirts of Sheffield. In addition to the main campus it includes a smallholding and a theatre/performing arts space. The curriculum at Brantwood includes clay work, jewellery making, felting and weaving, forge work and green woodwork. Brantwood Specialist School is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
