We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Scientist to join our team at the Food and Nutrition National Bioscience Research Infrastructure (FN-NBRI) at Quadram Institute Bioscience.
In this role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research in nutrition and health and help harmonise and curate food composition data. This position offers the chance to make a real impact on national nutrition resources that support policy, research, and industry practices.
Background:
FN-NBRI is the UK’s national provider of up-to-date data, tools, and knowledge relating to food composition, intake, and food systems. We serve academia, industry, healthcare, government, and consumers, delivering science and data that underpin national nutrition, health, and sustainability efforts. We collaborate closely with QIB and external researchers to enhance nutrition data quality and integrate food and microbiome insights.
The role:
The post holder will be responsible for activities such as:
1. Leading research on nutrition, sustainability, and gut microbiota
2. Harmonising and standardising food composition data
3. Supporting data acquisition and curation
4. Disseminating findings to a range of stakeholders
5. Contributing to collaborative FN-NBRI projects
The ideal candidate:
This post will be well-suited to a PhD graduate in nutrition and health, with a strong interest in food composition and data harmonisation. Candidates should demonstrate their research background through published work in nutrition and dietetics, and have experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research, particularly related to sustainable plant-based diets and health. Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with collaborators, along with high organisational ability, initiative, and problem-solving skills, are essential.
Additional information:
Salary on appointment will range from £36,720 to £44,500 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, indefinite position.
