Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Domestic Cleaner to join our Sodexo team at Ipswich Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital. If you have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, and take pride in delivering exceptional service, this is your chance to be part of something greater. What You’ll Do
* Maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, wards, communal spaces, restrooms, and other hospital areas
* Strip and clean beds, collect used linen for processing
* Clean surfaces, including desks, ceilings, vents, blinds, and walls, to maintain a hygienic environment
* Perform daily tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, floor polishing, and replenishing supplies
* Change curtains as scheduled
* Empty waste bins and manage refuse in line with hospital protocols
* Promote and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to training on chemicals and following safety guidelines
* Keep Machinery, Stock, and cleaning supplies organised and in good condition, ensuring any faults are reported immediately
* Maintain patient confidentiality
Essential
What you bring:
* Physical capability to carry out cleaning duties across various hospital areas
* Previous cleaning experience
* A friendly, customer-focused attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile
* A strong commitment to health and safety standards and an understanding of COSHH & Health and Safety Standards
* Professionalism, integrity, and a neat, presentable appearance
* Confidentiality and data protection awareness
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal with standard keyboard skills
* Ability to work well in a team
Desirable
* NHS Cleaning Experience
* Knowledge of NHS Colour coding scheme
* Infection control knowledge
* Experience working with patients or the public
* GCSE grade 5/C or equivalent in English and Maths
* NHS knowledge of relevant work area
