Role Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clinical Scientist to act as a Medical Physics Expert and Radiation Protection Adviser within the Health Physics Service. The postholder will contribute to the radiation protection services provided to hospitals across the West and Borders of Scotland, either already being a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) or having the knowledge and experience to be appointed within an agreed period. The role also requires holding an RWA certificate or working towards certification and undertaking duties in non‑ionising radiation protection.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead the Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives within diagnostic radiology for the Health Board, driving the development, implementation and oversight of AI technologies to support clinical practice. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to the advancement of safe, effective and innovative AI solutions for medical imaging. The postholder will additionally support radiation protection duties, diagnostic radiology physics and non‑ionising radiation services across multiple Health Boards.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a good honours degree in physical sciences and an MSc in medical physics or equivalent experience. They must be state registered as a Clinical Scientist and have extensive experience as an RPA and an MPE in diagnostic radiology.
