The role is based from our Tarmac Boroughbridge Depot, and you will be required to travel across the assigned region dependant of current works requirements. The role is easily commutable from Harrogate, York, Leeds, Ripon, North Allerton, Thirsk, Shipley, Sowerby, Knaresborough, Wetherby, Catterick and surrounding areas.\n\nWe’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.\n\nMain ResponsibilitiesAs the Works Supervisor - Highways you will be responsible for the successful delivery of both routine works and scheme works on behalf of Tarmac to our clients on whose contract/contracts which we are operating, ensuring their objectives and targets are achieved leading to the successful overall delivery of the projects.\n\nYou as the Works Supervisor - Highways will also manage the teams on site (either internal or external providers) to obtain the best possible commercial result for the projects and successfully manage any challenge process/processes which Tarmac’s clients may possess and must be able to travel across the region of work.\n\nOther responsibilities for this role will include (not exhaustive):\n\nEffective planning, programming and delivery of programme of works\nAchievement of Company and Contractual KPI’s and year-on-year improvement of Contract/Scheme KPI’s\nEnsuring change controls are diligently managed on contracts and site\nEffectively manage site teams to ensure career progression and competency is achieved\nWorking collaboratively with Tarmac Health, Safety & Wellbeing advisor to promote best practice across all works\nEnsuring Health and Safety standards are being adhered too across all works alongside collaborating, promoting and developing Health, Safety and wellbeing innovations with Zero accidents and environmental incidents\nEnsuring training qualifications and competence requirements are in place and monitored for all employees within their team\nEnsuring CDM regulations (principle contractor responsibilities) are being adhered too across all works\nEnsuring environmental processes and best practice across the contract and play your part in the reduction of carbon emissions through the works.\nEnsuring Health & Safety briefings are delivered \nAssisting in the management of the fleet, ensuring VOSA complianceThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal Works Supervisor - Highways will have will have worked within a similar role within the Highways industry and have knowledge of on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures associated with the role. \n\nThe successful Works Supervisor – Highways will also have the following essential skills and experience:\n\nThe ability to work independently and as part of a team and provide leadership and guidance in the role\nPossess good communications skills and will be able to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels\nComputer proficiency, including Excel and Word\nCertification in Site Safety Management (or willingness to undertake)\nExperience in Highways Maintenance at a supervisory level, this will be in routine maintenance works and construction\nCSCS card and SMSTS certificate\nFlexibility in approach to location and working patterns in accordance with needs of the businessThe following are desirable and would support your application:\n\nFirst Aid training & Mental Health First Aid Training\nIOSH training\nHGV Class 2 Licence Why UsIn addition to the role of Works Supervisor - Highways we offer an extensive range of career development opportunities and industry-leading rewards, incentives, and benefits:\n\nBonus scheme \nEnhanced holiday entitlement \nContributory pension scheme\nAccess to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.\nAccess to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential advice\nAccess to join our Employee Communities (employee networks) we currently have nine communities inc.
