Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support a national safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This fixed-term role focuses on practical support, insight, and collaboration to strengthen the network of Sport Welfare Officers across the country.

About the role:

This position supports a major national programme aimed at improving safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will help connect and coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers, ensuring they have the tools, support, and relationships needed to succeed. Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact for the network, contributing to long-term cultural change.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds. Whether you're early in your career, returning to work, or seeking a flexible, impactful role, if you're organized, empathetic, and motivated to make sport safer and more inclusive, we'd love to hear from you.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders such as Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluation submissions, extract key insights, and inform future activities.
* Create clear internal reports to support programme management.
* Coordinate project activities like meetings, events, and logistics.
* Work with the communications team on large-scale events.
* Support the development of national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and accessible.
* Maintain good administrative practices to manage tasks and timelines.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Excellent interpersonal skills — rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Strong organizational skills for managing remote work effectively.
* Openness to collaboration with diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Work Environment and Support:

* Home-based with regular virtual meetings.
* Travel approximately 1-2 times per month, including overnight stays 3-4 times per year.
* Flexible working options considered.

What We Offer:

* Home-based role with regular travel across England.
* 6% employer pension contribution with 2% employee contribution.
* Health insurance coverage.
